Project overview

The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to share their input on how recreation programs can be more inclusive and accessible. This public engagement is connected to work associated with the 2025-2028 Accessibility Strategy. More information on the engagement and the Inclusion Support Advisory Group can be found on our website.

Engagement opportunities

The municipality has in-person and online public engagement opportunities, including:

  • In-person engagement sessions:
    • March 24, 6 to 8 p.m., Dartmouth High School (cafeteria)
    • March 30, 6 to 8 p.m., St. Andrew’s Community Centre
      *Please note: Registration is required. Email inclusion@halifax.ca to register.
  • Virtual engagement session:
    • April 13, 6 to 8 p.m., Virtual town hall (Microsoft Teams)

  • Online survey
    • Scroll down this page to access the online survey.
    • The survey is open from March 2 to April 30.

What can be influenced at this time

  • Feedback received will inform updates to inclusion and accessibility in recreation programming across the municipality.

Next steps

  • After public engagement closes, feedback will be analyzed for trends and considerations.
  • There will be a final report completed with recommendations and a work plan to complete any recommendations set out in the report.
